Beginners Bird Walk

Citrus County Audubon Society is offering  educational bird walks focusing on the basics of birding. We welcome interested folks of all ages to get outside with us and enjoy our Florida birds.     All walks start at Wallace Brooks Park. While walking along the lake and boardwalk our focus will be on basic bird identification skills.

Meet at Wallace Brooks parking lot (see map link below) at 9:00 am sharp.   We will walk about a mile and a half.

If you have any questions about these walks please contact Eileen Riccio at elriccio@yahoo.com or (352) 400-8732.

  • Check in with the trip leader when you arrive.
  • Try to stay within visual or radio contact with the trip leader.
  • Listen to the experienced birders--you will learn a lot.
  • Keep side conversations muted when others are actively watching and listening to birds.
  • Suggested items: binoculars, bird guide, note pad & pencil, bug spray, sunscreen, water (other items: light snack, camera, scope, FRS walkie-talkies on Channel 2)
  • Wear clothing in neutral colors that blend with the environment, long pants, a hat, and comfortable shoes.
  • Check out with the trip leader if you leave early.
