Ahhochee Hill Field Trip Announced
Citrus County Audubon Society has scheduled a birding field trip at Ahhochee Hill for September 28, 2011. The public is welcome to attend. Registration is not necessary and participants with all levels of birding skills are welcome.
This field trip is managed by CCAS member Jean Freidner. It begins at 8 am, will involve some moderate hiking, and will last about 3 hours.
Ahhochee Hill, an Audubon of Florida property, features open fields, bird feeders and water supplies that attract a variety of birds passing through during migration. The sanctuary is perched on one of our few local hilltops, at over 220 feet. Within the 270-acre property, the elevation changes over 100 feet, and the habitat types vary tremendously.
