Honeymoon Island Field Trip Announced

Citrus County Audubon Society has scheduled a birding field trip at Honeymoon Island for Friday, November 11, 2011. The public is welcome to attend. Preregistration is not necessary and participants with all levels of birding skills are welcome.
This field trip is managed by CCAS members Franklin & Mavis Grebenc. It begins at 8:30 am, will involve mostly driving with some easy walking, and will last about 6 hours.
We will visit Gulf beaches, mangrove swamps, tidal flats and one of the few remaining virgin slash pine forests in South Florida. There is an $8 park entrance fee per vehicle.
Some of the unusual bird species we hope to see include: Dowitchers, Reddish Egret, American Oystercatcher, Black-hooded Parakeet, Eurasian Collared-Dove, Sharp-shinned Hawk, and Black Skimmer.
     Visit CitrusCountyAudubon.com for more information.
