Hello Fieldtrippers!


Are you ready for our bus trip to Lakeland?  Here is some information for your trip.

Remember that it is Wednesday, February 8th at 7:00 am!


7:00

We will board the bus at the Unity Church in Beverly Hills. (some maps call it Lecanto)

For your convenience there is a bathroom on the bus

You will receive maps of the reserve and can plan the route you wish to take

I will tell you the trails that I will lead and you might choose to take another after reading the description

Birding can also be good just around the visitor center area where it is more shaded

We should arrive at the Circle B Reserve

Restrooms are just inside the door of the visitor center

12:30

We will reload the bus to drive to our lunch restaurant--Anna's Diner

1:00-2:45

Lunch

3:00

Reload the bus for the trip home

5:00

We arrive back at the church

You do not need to tip the bus driver as that has been taken care of with your ticket cost. Also note that all tickets have been sold.

Circle B Bar Reserve

4399 Winter Lake Road  Lakeland, Fl 33803

Entrance on south side of SR 540 (Winter Lake Road) between US 98 and Thornhill Road

6 am-6:30 pm

The 1,267 acre property was jointly purchased in 2000 by the Southwest Florida Water Management District and Polk County's Environmental Lands Program. It comprises oak hammock, freshwater marsh, hardwood swamp and lake shore. There is a tremendous bird population, including a variety of wading birds, waterfowl, ospreys and bald eagles. Alligators inhabit Lake Hancock and may be observed from a distance.
